Default stock BF650 vs 2 slightly modded 04 P700's!!!

Wow, was I shocked to see the juice my 650 has!

My dad, brother and I went out riding some snowy trails today and had a blast. On the way back to the trucks my bro wanted to try the BF out to see how she did and to see the power diference. He has a lot of seat time on his P700 and knows it real well. After riding for a time he stopped and said that their really is no difference and that the BF 650 might have a ittle more power. He, feeling this, wanted a drag race when we got back down on to the main road. I was more than ready for the challenge.

My bro has the HL icm powerpak with 26 mud lites and itp black delta wheels. He weighs app. 230 lbs.
My dad has the HL icm powerpak with 27 mudlites on stock wheels and jetted. He weighs app. 215 lbs.
I have the bone stock BF 650 and I weigh 264 lbs as of yesterday.

I knew that the bigger tires would make a difference as far as the performance and acceleration were concerned, but thought that the 64cc of displacement difference would more than compensate.

Well, on a straight, level, paved road we raced.

Because of the modules they both pounced me off the line, but at about 80-90 yards, my little BF past them right up and just kept pulling further ahead. My dad with his 27's did better than my bro. I am guessing that is due to the jetting. My bro is now convinced he needs to rejet but was dumbfounded that the 650 beat his 700.

I am getting the HL module (or should I get the CDI?) and 25 Mudlites with the new deep lugs and type 5's on after the tax return, plus some other mods. Hopefully, I can stay ahead of them.

Get the cdi, I have one on my bf750 and its sick!!!!!! plug and play is a great feature plus no revcerse override anymore and no "belt limp mode". It s more money but you get gains throughout the powerband, not just on the low-end.

I agree on the Dyna CDI. Good move on your part to stick with the 25s. Slap in a $20 primary spring and you will get alot better jump on them as well. I like the orange/blue. The red has a little more stall than I wanted for trail rides.

I heard there is a new CDI coming out. Don't know the name of it though. Anyone heard of it yet? It's supposed to be programmable or have 4 programs on it (something like that).

How does the CDI compare with the modules for low end punch? We do a lot of snow and light mud riding and like the punch of the module to get going, but how is the seat of the pants feel between the two? Is it even that noticeable?

I don't know much about clutch springs but have been investigating a bit. My bro talked to our dealer about them and it was almost like he was trying to talk my bro out of getting one. They are touchy and sensitive for trail riding from what I hear. A little jumpy.

Yeah, I'm going to stay with the 25" Mudlites to keep up with the P700's (apparently I don't need to: LOL) But the ground clearance of the bigger tires would have been nice today. My dad was unstoppable with the 27's until we hit 2 ft+ of snow.

Also, would you expect an outcome like that between my BF against the prairies with their setups or was i lucky and got a fast one?

Velocity Devices is coming out with one that is programmable. I believe that is the one you'rethinking of.

Is this going to be better than the Dyna?

What do you guys think?

If I were to get 25" Mudlite XL's and type 5 c-series, a DYNA CDI, and a Warn 2.5ci winch, could I still outrun the big boys?- but this time from the start.

The winch will help keep the front end on the ground after adding the DYNA. If you want an even more wicked holeshot you need to change your primary spring. The Dalton Orange/Blue would be my 1st choice. If your friends don't make any other changes you'll smoke them, if you don't flip it, especially with the DYNA & Spring change.

Get use to the power of the DYNA & primary spring before you attempt Full throttle Starts; will save you and your quad some downtime.

IT WILL come up in a hurry & FLIP if you are not use to getting on/off the throttle, take my word for it.

my p700 has the heavy spring in it and it revs up to about 2000- 2500 befor it starts to move.
and when it dose move it dont jump unless your on the gas.
but it dose take a bit of getting used to.
but is works good i havent smelled the belt slip with it yet.
but i have bin keeping it in low as much as possable.
