My son no longer has an air box and a lot of the plumbing that went with it. Has anyone removed the plastic off the motor? What do you do for the transmission air intake side if you do? Has anybody made a cover? I already have a breather on the exhaust for the tranny.
Thanks Ed

Ok, from the fan cover, there is a rubber tube that goes to the back side of the clutchs. On the front of the clutch cover is where the air goes in. PPl put a K&N filter on this.
I'm guessing that you thought that the air went the other direction.
I do not think you can run w/o the motor top or fan/fan cover.
Hopefully that helped some.

So the air enters via the left side and exits out to the sprocket side then? Your right I did have that backwards. I am thinking of fabbing up a new cover for the fan side. Can the fan be enclosed if I put a filter on the exhaust side?

If the fan is enclosed, where will it draw air from?
I'm confused prolly. What are you trying to accomplish?

I just want to get rid of the plastic, I am going to use aluminun and still vent it with a radiator hose. Oh yeah I am only getting rid of the top plastic cover.

I feel all the plastic parts are important.
Arn't you afraid of a heat problem w/o the motor top?

It looks like a regular air cooled two stroke so I am guessing that having air hitting the motor all the time will work, like other air cooled motors. I can always put the plastic back on if I see a problem.

If for a flat track/TT type of racing I'd say all will be fine. For Mx, trails, etc. I think there will not be enough air passing the motor.
