My budding is looking at a 2002 scrambler 400. It is obviously a
2-stroke, but my question is fuel mixing. Will he need to pre-mix
the fuel and oil or does the machine do it itself? I never had a two
stroke qaud.

 

The gas and oil do get mixed, but its done by the quad, you just fill the oil tank and the gas tank, and the oil gets mixed in through the oil injection system.

A lot of people remove the injection once they start doing mods, so they can mix themselves. But on a stock bike, no need to mix.

 

If the quad is all stock, it should have oil injection. Sometimes people remove or dissable it though so I would ask the current owner.
