Love it ... sometimes you just can't go forward or someone behind you is stuck and you can't turn around!

A cheaper solution, which my brother has done on his a/c, is to mount the winch on a reciever hitch. He has 2x2 mount in front and in back, with wiring to each. All he has to do, is unplug and move the winch to the other end, replug it in, and it works great, and you only need to buy one winch. So for less money that two medium winches...you can have one top of the line winch, which works on both ends of the quad.

I also put recievers at each end of the quad. I carry the winch in the rear box to protect it from the elements. The mount plate on the winch has two tangs on it to allow pointing the winch straight out for norman winching or down for lifting the plow without binding the wire on the fairlead roller. I guess you could also point it straight up or to the either side if the situation required it.

Yes the receiver hitches sound good in theory but in reality when you're stuck in water or mud the receivers are submerged. If the receivers aren't buried then you ain't stuck. I've tried this on my big rig, having receivers sucks 9 times outa 10. Two good winches mounted front and back would be the best way to go.

I use the Warn Multi Mount system, works well. Plus I can plug a basket into which ever receiver doesn't have the winch in it so I can carry more. Put in what ever device fits my needs for that moment. Makes it into the swiss army knife of ATV's.
