When I spin on ice in 2 wheel drive (switch off) the front wheels will engage, not all the time but sometimes violently. this can't be good for the drive train.
The owners manuel states, "When the switch is off, the ATV is in 2 wheel drive at all times" My dealer says "It will do that, don't drive on ice unless your in 4 wheel drive". I say 2 wheel drive should be 2 wheel drive no matter what the rear wheels are doing. Anyone else experiencing this, if you have, what broke first and what did your dealer say?.

it should be in 2wd, but doesn't always stay there, actually it doesn't always usually go back to 2wd from 4wd....the solution that most people find is to change their hub fluid and put new fluid in...not sure why they get like this, but the hub lock has a roll cage and is basically magnetically/electrically operated to lock and unlock the 4wd.....putting in new fluid usually fixes the problem...

go to the polaris forum and search on 'awd' or '4wd' and you will find all the info you need

I read a recent post in the Polaris forum about an updated disc or plate? try to do a search or just go through the pages one by one. the post was about almost the exact problem your having.
