Default Question About winch Mount??

A friend got me a deal on this No Name 2000lb winch basically and I was wondering if anyone has a winch different then a Warn, super,or Ramsey? Also how difficult it was to mount to their p650/p700? Would anyone have pictures or sketches of a Mounting Bracket that they made up for a reference? My friend is a Qualified welder and said he would make me a winch mount with steel, stainless or even aluminum if I had somthing to go by? Thanks for any help...

Default Question About winch Mount??

ILL try to explain it to ya. the peice is long enough for the winch to sit on, 4 bolt holes to mount the winch to it. then it bends up in front of it high enough to put your roller fair lead on it, two bolts. more like a peice of angle iron. not trying to be a smart a$$. it gets bolted down by the front diff.

hope this helps.

p.s. you can get the mounting bracket for about $35.

Default Question About winch Mount??

just buy the winch mount plate for a Warn winch, it will probably have holes where you need them, if not, you'll just have to drill a couple holes to match the winch you have.

Default Question About winch Mount??

Thanks for the info..! Maybe the warn winch mount is the way to go? I would of liked to get one made of Aluminum to save on weight.. Does anyone have a custom Mount on the front of their Prairie? I find the OE one really low in front.. Just curious.. Thanks!!

aluminumproducts.com makes aluminum mounting plates for winches. the mounting plate on my rubicon is aluminum that i got from them. i think they make one for the prairie as well.

Default Question About winch Mount??

check out my pics i have mine mounted on my bush bumper.
its very easy to make and the winch is in the perfect spot you dont need to be serching through slop and water to find the release and it works excelent in this spot.
plus i can reach it and unwind it without getting wet or off the quad.
and i just reel it out and toss the line to a friend and he ties it onto somthing and im going without getting wet or muddy.
the guy who made this had the right idea.
coppy mine its made out of aluminum so its light weight also.
the only thing i dont like about it is the bar in front of my wheels, if i bump somthing it will bend in and then my tires rub on the rough trails when i bounces.
but im going to cut them off then it will be fine.

Default Question About winch Mount??

Thanks for the Ideas guys.. I think I will fabricate a mount to fit the upper racking.. Kinda like mud blaster but not with the big racking extended over the front... I could see myself banging off that on my way over the bars.. ! Or even maybe something built to the rear of the bike.. because when you get in mud hole deep enough.. you probably want to back out of it??
Thanks again..
