Just wondering if anyone could tell me what size trailer would be good for 2 mid-size quads like Yamaha Kodiaks? Can they both fit on a 5x8 trailer or do you need something bigger? And what should you pay for a 2 quad trailer?

I bought my Trailer from R and S on Coors on the west side of Albuqerque . My 600 Polaris is just 4 feet wide--So I don't think 5 x 8 trailers will work for you...

You talking about an open flat trailer or an enclosed? For open, I like http://www.pj-trailers.com/ (side loading ATV). For closed I like http://www.paceamerican.com/#loaderdone (I have a CargoSport).

I like to place my bikes on the trailer sideways, so I need a trailer that is 8' wide. I find that it averages out to 4' of length per bike, so that would be a minumum of 8X8' for two bikes. But, always get more trailer than you need! Add at least a few extra feet of length for gas cans, gear bags, camping gear, etc.

 

You can load 2 quads side by side on a 5x8. I've got a buddy that does it all the time. I've got a 5x13 that i load the quads on sideways. Go to my friends website-http://atvs.home.comcast.net/snow2.html Lokk around on his site, go to snow-2 you'll see a good picture of his trailer. It's white with a rail around it, he's got planks that sit under the top rail. He just puts his ramps up and drives right on.

 

6.5' x 12' seems to be a fairly common open ATV trailer size and that is what we bought. It's nice to go ahead and get a trailer that is slightly bigger than what you initially need just in case you want to haul a few extra things or a buddy's ATV or dirt bike. We can squeeze three ATV's on it if they are turned sideways but we only have two ATV's. It's a lot cheaper to get a slightly bigger trailer now than having to buy another bigger trailer later once you realize that you don't have enough room for something else you want to haul.

 

I had to go with a 5by because of access limitations, a 6.5 would work out alot better. I just loaded my quads end to end on the 5x13. Probably had about a little less than a foot to spare.

 

I would go 6x12 or so. You should be able to load them on end to end like others have mentioned. Then you have extra room for gear or another quad by loading them side by side by side.

 

Cheapest trailer I know of that works great would be a two up open snomobile trailer. Just be careful when you start putting a lot of weight behind you, they tend to quickly overpower your braking ability.
