Default How is yer Eiger 4x4 manual?

Lo, im looking at buying an Eiger 5-speed 4x4. and would like some input from people who own and/or ride them? im comparing to 2 other quads right now. i mainly want to know how the Eiger 5-speed handles and how well the 4x4 works. i dont care about the top speed at all since i wont be racing it. handling, reliability and FUN! are the most important factors here. and im not expecting a powerhouse of a quad, just something to have fun in the mud with. and i want something that is a bit smaller and lighter than my 97 sportsman. im comparing the eiger to the yamaha Wolverine, and the Big bear-400.

any advice and input would be great, thanks for reading this!

Default How is yer Eiger 4x4 manual?

I have had mine for a few years and while it is a workhorse and will plow, tow, haul anything I want it to. It is still a blast to ride and certainly holds it's own in the mud etc. With the SRA it powerslides well compared to my brute but I do like the diff lock on my brute. The manual transmission works well however after how satisfied I am with the automatic transmission in the brute I almost wish I would have gotten the automatic tranny.

you won't be disapointed if you get the Eiger over the Big bear or the Wolvy....has lot's of power can push, plow, and tow just about anything as long as you got traction...haven't had any part failuars yet and i got over 1500 miles on it...all of which are hard ridden miles

I work at a suzuki dealer and i bought an eiger because we never have to work on them. The only thing i am disappointed in is the reverse is to high geared at least it is for my mudzillas.

I'm going to pick mine up next weekend.

I actually compaired the same quads to the Eiger as you are. I owner a Wolverine back in '96 and didn't care for the FT 4WD or the single range tranny. The Wolverine hasn't changed and the Big Bear had a single range tranny. I got to ride a friends Eiger for a couple days and after reaquainting myself with a 4WD quad I was pretty impressed. It had good power, loved the dual range tranny with PT 4WD and the suspension was very impressive. The only downside of the Eiger to the Wolverine is that is weighs like 80-100lbs more. However, you get so many features and that once the quad is stuck you can't pick either of them up anyway, weight really isn't that big of a factor.

I agree, the weight realy doesnt bother me a bit. i have a 97' sportsman 500 talk about WEIGHT!!! i dont think anything weighs as much as a sportsman other than another sportsman with a bigger motor. but i am starting to like the Eiger more and more every day. so things arent looking good for big-bear and wolvy (no offence to yamaha). i went to the dealer today and checked out the new 05 eiger, it seems to fit up perfectly. hey thanks for all the input everyone. now i just need to find a Co-signer and that shiney new yellow 5-speed is MINE!!!

i got 1900 miles on mine and never a single problem after i installed the in-line fuel filter a lil lacking in reverse power with big wheels backing up hill but definately get the manual over the eiger auto for more power and better performance IMO
