TTR Blaster....future project!
#1
Well, i always wanted to build a hybrid project quad, and i Pondered upon many ideas and variations of what would be awesome, or what would not!
and i think i figured it out. id like to take a yamaha TTR-225 engine and wedge it into a blaster frame. than maybe get the 225 bored out a little to something like a 250 or maybe even 275? im sure the good guys at FST can do some magic on it. i originally wanted to put a yz-250F powerplant in a blaster but they cost so darn much and its impossible to find Just that engine around here. im sure this has been done before, has anyone seen one? or know of any sites i can check out?
the reason i picked the blaster for a frame is they are good-and-PLENTY and very cheap. the reason for the ttr-225 engine is i rode my blaster along with a buddy who rides a TTR-225 and i liked the type of power and after comparing it looks like the ttr will fit with minimal problems. i might have a chance to buy an old blaster from a friend for cheap, and ttr's are popular around here so im sure ill find one reasonable. if worst comes to worst ill use my 03 blaster and take the engine out for the swap.
heck i might just buy a used TTR and than take the blaster and the bike and swap engines in both LOL!!
so what do you all think?

Well, ive seen a few "YZ-250 Blasters" before, no doubt that combination would be lethal on a Mx track or GNCC racing. but i want to set up a trail quad, and i like the Low end, and mid-range power of the TTR motor. im not saying it is super powerfull i wouldnt expect it to be as fast as a stock blaster. but after i do what i plan on doing (if i do), than it will be quite a bit faster.
besides, i think it will be fun seeing how confused other riders get when they see a '4-stroke Blaster" lol.

You like the motor in the bike, the same motor in a quad is entirely different. You wouldnt have close to the same power (two wheels, axle) and just the overall weight of the quad. A yz250 motor would be better in my opinion.

Well, like i said i "DONT" like the yz-250 motor because i want to build up a trail quad, and yz-250 is too much top end for my style of riding.
as for the xr600 OMG! wouldnt that engine make a blaster scrape the ground with weight? and even worse it says "honda" on it, that would defeat my purpose if keeping it yamaha style.
and im not looking for a super powerful drag racing motor. the reason for a smaller 250 class 4-troke is because i plan on having it Bored out and upgraded. to compensate for the extra weight of the quad frame. yet i still want it to be under 300 cc. (well 330 at the dead most)!
something i did notice is yamaha has been making ttr-230, and ttr-250's and i never even payed attention. if i can get a hold of the 250 thatd be awesome. ps i want to keep it a yamaha motor, since its a yamaha frame im using.
spring is upon us, its almost time for me to get started with this.

I think you will be disapointed with a TTR motor but i guess its your project not mine. Still think you should go with a yz250 motor.

well, like i said 2 times already, the YZ is a uh......"2-STROKE" and i want a....you guessed it "4-STROKE".
I guess short memory spans are popular these days ?? oh well.
something i did think about, which makes more sense, is using a warrior motor instead. if i could get a warrior engine to fit in that little frame than ill use one of those instead of a ttr. a 350 blaster would rock, and it would have REVERSE! Crap does anyone know the size-specifications on a warrior-motor LOL!! i dont want to do any frame cutting so this may cause a problem.
ok so now it might change to project "YFM-350 Blaster". howaboot that one?

Good Luck. I found this and i thought it would be pretty cool to try. DT200 Blaster Even though its 2-stroke i think it would be Sweet.

Hey 'SlipGear', that DT-200 conversion looks pretty cool. if i had a good place to really open up an engine like that than i would try a bigger 2-stroker. heck amagine a powervalve blaster, yet still being the same displacement of 200cc,.......... nice!! thanks for the link. i am still set on the 4-stroke idea tho.
i think i officially changed my idea to a Warrior powered blaster now, no more TTR unless i can get a really good deal on one. i seem to have located several older warriors, and even seperate warrior engines thatare within driving distance. this just may shape up after all. ( or so i hope! ). i just wonder how many "350 blasters" are out there? still havent seen any.
