Default Help in stalling Raptor '01

Hi just bought a 2nd hand Raptor '01 and the previous owner knew of the problem but was not sure why it has started doing this but the Problem is that while riding or sitting at idle and you rock the beast to each side it's starts to cough and splutter and then stalls or just stops. It tries to recover but more often it will stop.
I am in a pretty remote location so taking it to the Dealer would be a very costly adventure.
We've had a look at a service manual and there's not much else there could be to resolve the problem. I've tried ringing Serivce agents and their just quoting out of the service manual.
Is there any thing that anyone might might know of this problem and how to resovle it.
Other info.
No Mods.
has been sitting for a year or so
and in the past month or two has just started to be used I guess into suckering me in to buying it. But I think the previous owner will come to the party to help resolve the problem. either his experience or his wallet.
But other than that I just want to get out there and ride the Beast. I had 2 hrs play untill it started playing up on me.
Any assistance Please would be Great.
Thanks in advance
Commdice.

sounds like carb/fuel....id start with the fuel...drain and replace with highest octane ....might even try some 104 octane boost to try and keep from pulling the carb....not difficult but time consuming....hope this helps....of course im not the rappy guru by any means...im having trouble with one im working on... much more problems then yours...

Thanks Wheelinguy, Well We've cleanout and tried 100 octaine,
AVgas (avation gas) closest High octaine level I can get out here.
I am a bit worried bout the avgas but the engine should be able to handle it?

We've also pulled out the carb and let it soak ov/nite and reassembled. but no good.
Floats look good and level we have heard of some talk that the electrics could be a problem
there may be a frayed insulation and grounding on the frame or connectors filled with dust but i've blown out all dust in all connectors, there was a little bit of grit at the bottom of the carb after we had disassembled like a small piece of sand. Cleand the air filter, Checked the jets but really don't have another to compair with.
Fuel was dirty with some small leaves that had fallen in the fuel drum while refueling, Got rid of all of that as well.
the only thing we havn't thought of is that we had a bit of a problem with hornets building nests in nice perfect round tubes and hole which i'll be checking out after sunup.
thanks again

Dont put AV gas in it, just run premium. Also, clean the hell out of the carbs, and check the float level, put it just sounds like some water maybee in the gas.

Hi thanks again with the options to try.
But yeah I've cleaned out the tank drained the lines.
taken the carb off about 6 times by now.
But every thing looks fine.
Could it be the electrics?
The Park needed adjusting but that's fine now too.
as well the choke looks to be sticking looked in the
carb and there was some build up and corrosion but
sorted that out when we soaked the carb the other nite.
Anything else someone can think of?
Thanks again

Can you tell us a little more about the problem? All you gave us is that when you rock the machine at idle it stalls. How does it perform otherwise? Has this been a problem since you got it or did it run ok when you picked it up?

Could be a number of things including loose connections or spark plug wire. Sounds like you have done a good job of eliminating the fuel issue, at least faulty carbs. What about the fuel line, is it unobstructed and free of any kinks or pinches? How about the spigot from the tank? I would think that cold weather and lean pilot jets could have an effect as well.

Sorry bout this, I think we've got it. When and checked this morn, the breather hose to or from the carbie it comes out from the middle of the two carbs and just runs under the seat. Well there was a hornets nest pluging up the tube. the carbie was pulled out again last nite and the jest a good looking over they seemed fine. but is assembled now and while at idle if rock it from side to side it dosn't seem to cough or splutter any more.
Seems fine which leads me to either the plug in that hose or the jest might of been a bit out, and they just need to taken out and put back in again.
But once again guys thanks for all your help.
there were some good ideas.
I'm sure it just really needed a service.
I havn't actually ridden it yet to make sure but hopefully this arvo.
Thanks again.
