Today I've just bought 4 slightly used Mudlite 27" tires for my "New To Me" 2002 Kawasaki 650. My ITP Series C type 6 wheels are on order and I'm getting anxious. My neighbour who drives a Kawa 400 tells me I should put more air in the front tires than in the rear. This is just the opposite of what the manual says for the stock tires. Could someone please comment on this and suggest recommended pressures?

i have 26" mud lites on my honda and i run 5 psi all the way around.
i have some friends that say i should run 3 1/2 psi in the rear so it gets better bite going over downed trees and such but i found 5 psi to be the best for me.
my best friend has 27s on his honda and he runs 4 psi in his and he likes it.
it says on the tire 7 psi max.
try 7 psi and then lower it down untill it feels right for you.
but i would not go any lower then 3psi.

sorry about that 5 lbs in the rear but it seems a little on the hard side and i am going to try 4 lbs next trip out

 

4 lbs. in summmer. and, in winter bring it down to like almost nothing.

 

Its hard to tell the pressure on these things. I had one leak down to nothing and I only noticed because it was all of the sudden wider than the other tire. Still rode good.... I run 5 all around and let the springs do the rest. Maybe your friend with the 400 was sudgesting more in the front because his machine is full time 4wd and with more air pressure in the front tires, its that much easier to steer. At least from my experience anyway.

Those tires you bought.....well.....they're used to having pretty handy to 4.25# on them.....be nice to them...hahaha
