my buddy has a yfz450 and i just bourght an 05 raptor with a carbon fiber yoshi pipe kit and KnN filter and jet kit.... he has a yoshi slip on pipe and thats it....we are supposed to go to the drag strip(1/8 th mile)next friday and race and i dont like any supprises so who will win ... what should i do next

 

Raptor will win if you are both good riders, Raptor and YFZ accelerate almost the same but raptor has higher top speed (Stock) , but since you got a full exhaust and intake, that gives you almost 14 more HP if jetted correctly, so you should win. Next step would be a Piston and cam combo, i reccomend a 11:1 Weisco and a 696/697 Grind Webcam, this combo works great and you can still run on 93 octane (pump gas) and will give you more power accross the board.. good luck

 

thx man ... what does the cam /piston do to the warranty? i hear raptors have some relibility problems and i dont wanna void it unless i have to...

 

The raptor has problems with the one way starter, not really anything else unless you go big bore then the rod is a possilbe factor.

Any internal work will void the warranty, which is only 6 months anyway unless you buy an extended warranty. Depending on your dealer any bolt on could void it, most say a pipe or filter will void it.

 

14 more HP. That's a good one. Post some more stuff like that, I need some more good laughs tonight.

well if you look at the february edition of dirt wheels the yoshi pipe adds 11hp so with a filter and jets i see 14 a good possibility ...get your facts strait before you criticize someone

 

Yea, everything you read is about 10+ hp for a full pipe for the raptor. Even their lil pipe shoot out with the dyno charts and all that. But a lot of ppl will garuntee their life on it not being anywhere near that much.

 

Seems pretty odd to me that a Raptor making an extra 14 hp can't keep up with YFZs making an extra 5-6 hp. That's why I don't think your gonna see that much hp gain from those mods on a Raptor.

i have a full yoshi sysytem knn rejet and have raced yfzs with same mods,theyll get me in 1 and 2nd gears because raptors wheelie so bad but 3rd im cathing them 4th im passing them 5th im leaving them
