27' 589 M/S Tires wont fit on '04 Sportsman 700?
#1
I have a 2004 Polaris Sportsman 700, it is completely stock, I just bought 27' ITP 589 M/S Tires from Highlifter.com, well I took the 4-wheeler and the tires to a local tire shop up the road and they said that the tires would not fit, and that the rub against the tie rod, and they I would have to get spacers for them to fit... I have seen many '04 Sportsman 700s with my same tires and they did not need spacers .. Does anyone out there have these tires on their SP 700?..
Any help is greatly appreciated

If they are the 27x10x12 then I would say they are rubbing the tierods and if you have the 27x9x12 on the front they will be close to rubbing. You can pick up some spacers problem solved.

If you put the new tires on stock wheels they will probably rub whether they are the 9's or the 12's. you will need either aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers. you should have done a search on the subject before your purchase. I just installed 27-9-12 mudlites on the front and 27-12-12 mudlites on the rear of my 2004 700EFI mounted on the ITP type 6 wheels. they do not rub the tierod. I installed 2" strut spacers to lift the front end up so they wouldn't rub the fender flares. you can check out my gallery to see pics of my quad and the spacers.

just pick up some wheel spacers....then you'll be all set...

if i remember correctly, the stock tire on the '04 is 25"? so jumping up 2 sizes i think your next problem will be rubbing the front fenders be the floorboards.
when i bought 26" Outlaws from Highlifter they rubbed terribly there. after awhile it got old and i put the stockers back on.
good luck with yours though!
