I am running a fresh 88 lt250r,paul turner pipe and fat boy silencer,stock airfilter and box, i have a 270 main jet and a stock pilot jet.the quad smokes like a normal two stroke when you first start it.but then it totally clears uponce it warms up. I can rev it to the moon while sitting there and it hardly "visibly" smokes. Is this a bad thing? OH YEAH,i checked the plug and it is black and wet,wich would lead me to believe its rich. i could smell the exhaust strongly but it doesnt seem to smoke hardly after warm up

 

BTW the quad starts up really easy,on first couple kicks usualy,and idles fine. i sprayed wd-40 around the base gasket while it was idling and it had no effect on idle at all,so my base gasket doesnt seem to leak. and my crank seals are new as well as the bearings,so i doubt the magneto side crank seal is leaking.

 

The new era of 2-stroke oils don't smoke if you are jetted right and the motor is in good shape. Once warmed up no smoke should be seen but you will smell the exhast... more if it is rich.

make sure you did the oil mixture correctly , you have water in it, Gas,Trans Oil, and JUST RIDE IT!
