Default new scrambler wheels/tires

Im looking to replace my worn out 489s and probably the stock wheels as well. Is there a tire out there that goes well in mud etc. but still has some sporty characteristics and far as ride and handling go? Any reccomendations as far as wheels go? What size should i get. I could use some more ground clearence, but not at the expense of being tippy and bogging the motor down

i was thinking of going an inch or 2 bigger than stock, because i always seem to get high-centered in mud holes

pwrtrip99,

If you are running a swing arm skid plate then that has a lot to do with you getting hung up in the mud a lot. I took mine off after a few rides and never went back. It's sitting in the garage as we speak. Unless you ride in rocky areas where you really feel it is absolutely needed I suggest keeping it off. With it off the sprocket and rotor will cut right through most mud.

thanks for the advice. Ill probably take it off very soon. I bought the scrambler with it on so im not completely sure everything will botl right back up. Will the bolts used with the skidplate work without it, they seem pretty long. Is their any other parts that could conflict?

changing your tire size screws up your 4wd system. Unless absoultly nessessacy, use the stock tire sizes! I have Shredder XTs, and i really like them. THey do everything the stocks do and more, 10x better. THey also are long lasters, they hardly wear.

i had heard previously that as long as the ratio of size was kept, the 4wd system would be fine. For instance, if i wanted 23 inchers in the back, id have to put 24s on the front. is this untrue?
