Default 04.5 SPortsman 500ho only gets to 48mph??

My 500 ho has 90 miles on it, I can't get this to go over 48mph(on speedo, afraid to see with gps!). I have a heelclicker installed but the stock setup was the same top end speed. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I see on some of the posts that guys are getting a bit more speed than me, some to around 60mph and more. Is this something i should ask my dealer about? I will, but I think this forum is where the knowledge is, so thats why i'm asking for help here first. Thanks

I think you should at least be getting around 55mpm maybe even a little more. Is 48mph the fastest you ever got it? I would check it with the gps and see what it is your speedo could be a little off.

I would check it with GPS or another ATV ... you may need another spring in your clutch kit ... I get around 52 to 54 MPH on the speedo.

Yeah 48mph is it so far, i'll check with the gps tomorrow, but it doesn't seem faster than the speedo shows. i hope i'm wrong but it feels alittle like a dog. I thought after the break-in it would get faster. I didn't go full throttle for more than 5 seconds until i had around 60 miles on the machine. I thought it would be faster than it is.

Would a different spring give me more top end, or just different engagement rpm's? From what i've read the heelclicker won't give you any more speed, just make it quicker. Can you explain?

The stiffer the spring means higher engagment and the longer it takes to shift out. Which spring do you have in it now?

You are correct ... it can't give you more speed ... but it CAN reduce your top speed if the spring is to stiff (strong).

I have the stock spring, blue/green, i like that the engagment rpm's are low, if i were to try another spring which one do you suggest?
I'll get the speed with the gps tomorrow, so i'll know for sure. Thanks
