Well that was the spring I was going to suggest. What is the setup with the heel clicker weights (for example my 700 is 1.2s 4.3c 3.3t).

My 400 will go 50-53 on the flats...gps says about the same....takes a bit to get up there after 45....

 

Did you do the clutch mod? If not go to the Heelclicker sight and look at the technical support section and look at the section on view clutch modification. Not doing the clutch mod could limit top end. I had to do it on mine.

 

I didn't have to do the mod, the weights swing free and stop the rollers from spinning, also the top speed was the same without the h/c kit installed.

I'm glad this thread was started. I got a question for all Sportsman 500 owners...My uncle has a 03 or a 04 model.
My Gpa gives me a hard time about my 2wd quads..he says "they are worthless" and you can do the same thing with the 4wd...I beg to differ..anyway he also says that my Uncles 500 Sportsman does 65.

He has aftermarket racks front and back..only mods done to it....just what is the top speed of those ..and how long does it take to get there?

I argue with no mods and the added weight it does 58 tops....

 

my 04 does 55 -57mph,i raced a 03 it was faster top end but lazyer on the bottom end i have heard since that they changed the helix in 04,and ive raced 3 different 04.5 and im a good bit faster then them.what do the 05 top out at?

 

Did you remove the nylon lock nut from the primary clutch and install the new thinner metal one when you installed the heelclicker kit? The stock nylon is thicker and won't let the clutch full shift out.

Did you have a creeping problem with the kit? I did and it is stil there slightly but the belt squeeze on engagement is terrific!
