Default 1986 200sx chain problems

Hey my stepbrother has one of those old 1986 200sx thinga-ma-bobbers. Well he always gets so far than his chain pops off and gets tangled around his axle. anyone know how to fix that? I was going to ask this in 3-wheelrs cuz this thing is as old as them.

Usually it means you need chain and sprockets, and\or rear axle bearings. Honda put expensive O-ring chains on that model as original equipment, and they don't stretch very much...so not much room was left for chain adjustment. If you put a cheap plain old chain on it, you will run out of adjustment very fast, as they stretch alot more.

I see. upon investigation i noticed the rear sprocket is farthe rin than the front sprocket, causing an angle between the 2. the bike is bone stock except for new tires. is it supposed to be like that?

Sprockets are always intended to be "lined" up. Hoist up the back of the machine and check for excessive play in the axle bearings. Also make sure the bolts that hold the bearing carrier to the swingarm are intact, and the chain is adjusted evenly, side to side.
