Default Want to build an old school mud machine

What do you guys think of this: I think I may be able to get a 95 sportsman, junk (cheap)
What I want to do is get a 500ho motor off of ebay and put it on this chasis.
Then maybe get sproket specialist to make me some killer big sprokets for the front and rear
Make up some kind of home made suspension lift and put 29 inch tires on it.
I figure if I can get the quad for 5 or 600$- a motor for 600 or so, I may be able to have me a SERIOUS mud runner for less than 3000$
What do you think?

lets see, 95 would be a 400, then build a 500 to stick in it,and then change the wiring harness and mounting. cool project, but why not build the 400?? more hp for less $$? and there are plent of sprocket combos out there to prolly work, even with big tars and wheels.

Seams like ALOT of work ... and i'm sure it will be ALOT more than $3000.00.

If you frame is junk, I'm sure the other drive parts will need changed out to drive bigger anything.

Yea, now that the beer has worn off, Im thinkin its not such a great idea. With all of those chains? Running those big heavy tires. Hell id prob have to carry wrenches in my pocket to keep them tite.
Plus it has the solid rear axle, and still wudnt have the clearance of some of the irs machines
Oh well thanks for the replys
