Default hard to move 350

i just got my 350 together and it was a little hard to move the crank so i just kind of started to assemble my motor and one i got the sides on the crankcase on i went to turn it and was like it was seized. i was told that the endplay was off. what does that mean. and how do you adjust it? any info would be great.

case halves are the 2 sides of the crankcase. did you by any chance have the bearings off the crank? also, make sure they are completely cleaned out if you are not replacing them.
