Default carb cleaning

What's the best fluid for carb cleaning, mineral spirits, paint thinner, gas, kerosene, carb cleaner, brake cleaner.

Anybody have a preference.

I picked up an 84 200x and 200s for $200 for both. Guy said they both ran when he parked them behind the polebarn several (as in so long he couldn't remember) years ago (he said he drove them back there). Both need work and I think its just a varnished carb/spark plug/air filter problem.

Just curious.

Also, looking for chain/sprockets for 84 200x.

carb cleaner is the best. You can pick up a gallon for pretty cheap. I always take the carb 100% apart and soak it for an hour or so. Then spray off the parts with fast dry brake clean. I use carb cleaner because it is the only stuff that will actually dissolve anything in the passages. Do not put plastic or rubber parts in the carb cleaner, sometimes they don't come back out!

Thanks. I think I'll do just that. Keeping my fingers crossed.
