hi all,

I have a 2000 honda recon that wont start. has fuel but no spark. where do i start ?replace cdi box?

The first thing I would check is your switches. Make sure your key and engine kill switches are working properly. Then check the ground connection on your coil and a different plug.

It might be the CDI box, but check the cheap and simple stuff first.

 

mine had a similiar problem i would just start with the plug and make sure nothing is in the spark plug boot. thats what my problem was. hope you figure it out

 

Okay, did all that and still no start. will my friends cdi box off his 2000 400 ex work? they look the same and atleast we could rule the cdi box out. looking ast a diagram of the ignition, theres the coil and magneto still left to check. anyway you can check these without replacing them?

icant even get my 400ex to start i lost the key and i dont live near a dealer could i role start it

 

Check the date on the previous post, this topic has been dead for a year and a half. If you have a problem or have a question about your machine, start a new thread instead of digging up old ones.

About your problem, when you say 'role start it' I'm assuming you mean push it as fast as you can and pop it in gear. I'm not sure how you are going to do that when you don't have a key. You still need to turn the ignition switch on so it will start and stay running. Remove the ignition switch from the machine, there are numbers on the back side of the switch, and find someone to make you TWO keys so you have a spare.
