Default 450R Radiator Fan?

Hi,

Yesterday, I took my nephew to the sand dunes for a day of riding. We rented a 250EX for 5 hours, and we took turns on both that & my 450R. We had a blast!

Anyways, here's what's bugging me: At several times during the day, by curiosity, I checked to see if the radiator fan was spinning (with the engine running of course). It wasn't.

Not that the quad overheated or anything (I don't think it did, because the temp light never came on, except for a few seconds after I kick-started it, then it would turn off by itself).

Is this normal? Or is the fan supposed to be running the entire time the engine is running? The quad is practically brand new, and hasn't been modded in any way yet.

Any thoughts?

The fan on the 450r is themostatically controled and will only come on when your engine gets hot enough to require it. Since there is no battery on the 450r the fan will not run after then engine is shut down like it will on other quads.
I have never noticed my fan going, I haven't bothered to look either.
The overheat light is supposed to come on for a second every time you start it. This is to show you that it is still working. If it doesn't come on when you start it the light may be burned out. If it's burned out there is no way for it to show you an overheated condition.
