Good 4-wheeler for jumping
#1
Well I've been riding other peoples 4 wheelers all the time for about a year now and I am really wanting my own now. I have been riding a crappy moto 4, yamaha warrior, yamaha blaster, and a polaris trailblazer. I want a manual clutch for sure but i can't decide what would be a good 4 wheeler to get. I mostly will be jumping, trail riding will be occasional, and road riding a good deal also. Really and truly i've been looking for a good fast 4 wheeler that would be good for jumping, and it with a pipe and filter it needs to hold at least 60mph steadily. I am 16, about 6'1', and weighing 230. I've got about a $3000$3500 limit so i've been looking at a used blaster and buying a good deal of extras, getting a warrior and just putting a pipe and filter on it, or getting a 300ex and doing the same as the warrior. Anybody know what used 4 wheeler would suit me best in that price range? Thanks.

I was going to say Z400, but your price range is a bit low. Get a 400EX. They're light, handle well and are very reliable. They're quick too. You can probably pick up a '99-'00 for $2500-3000. I had and liked the Warrior, but the 400EX is definitely better for what you want to do with it.

The best stock jumper out there is the Yamaha 450 (an MX machine), so that is what you want to compare other bikes to.
First off, just plain forget the Warrior! I rode one for years, so I know from first hand experience. It was OK in its day, but there are now lots of better machines out there.
I have done a lot of freestyle jumping (when I was young and stupid) with the 300 and 400EX. Both are excellent, and fly well in the air. The 300 in particular is like a toy, and I can manhandle it and flick it around. And, both are excellent trail bikes! But, both are underpowered by todays standards, and the 300 is certainly to small for you. I would look for a used 400EX, and try to hop the engine up as much as possible.
A 6 footer on a Moto 4......that's pretty funny!

just to let you know from personal experience you can jump anything. me and my buddy used to jump a scrambler 90 of an 8 foot tall jump, clearing about 10 feet. so you can jump anything you just have to get used to whatever you are jumping.
