Default Big-uh-oh on the tranny case.. (my 88 trailboss rebuild yet still..)

anywhoo.. was cleaning the tranny up good tonight.. and found that on the chain side.. right by the sproket, appreantly the chain was rubbing or something.. and there is a crack that is about 1-2 inches on it... So... is this a fixable thing? or am I going to have to find me a new tranny??

Also, if this is to much im' thinking of just putting it back together sell it as is.. and put money towards a newerd 4 stroke.. but I love the 2stroke 250! it keeps up with my scrammy 500!

grrrrr.. any ideas? can you weld this?

They can be welded. But you brought up a good topic. Unless you have some real reason for rebuilding the bike or money is not an issue, you will not get out of the 250 what you're putting into it. In the long run it will cost more and you'll get less out of it.

If the crack is in a non critical area I would just take a dremel, grind it out a little and us JB Weld.

Well.. I Think it is in a critical area... right below the sproket.. and above the pivet point for the rear a-arm thingy.

soooo.. if I can find one cheap at a junkyard I still might go for it.. if not.. well here comes a new wheeler for me..
