Well im new to these forums. I just bought a DVX400 and im kinda new into the ATV thing but im into cars and truck and im a good mechanic. So i was thinking what would be a good regular maintenance that u should do to the quad.

How often should i do a maintenance on it?
What should i change when i do the maintenance?
Would it be good to use 91 octane or will it harm the engine?

If u know anything else that will help me then post it please

I would pretty much just follow what the manaul says, at least until you've had some time to feel out what else may or may not need attention. You can always come back here and ask about oil, filters, etc.

Oh, and from my and other's experience, check everything on your machine before you go out riding. Check the air in the tires, check the oil level, and check the fluids in your diffs. "Dealer prep" these days seems to mean doing the least amount of work needed to get the customer out the door. This is from "first hand experience", 4g63dvx. higher octane fuel is only meant to reduce knock caused from pre-ignition in higher compression engines. Follow the owners manual for recommended fluids. Higher octane will burn hotter and possibly cause some unneeded problems but ad nothing to your performance.

Basic maintence is pretty simple. Change the oil and filter after break-in then every 500 or so miles afterwards, keep the air filter clean, grease the 3 zerks on the rear shock linkage, lube the drive chain before every ride, chain tension. The valves will need adjuted after some ride time, but you will be able to hear them ticking when they get to loose.
With a stock engine and compression you wont gain anything with running 91 octane fuel.
