is there a way to adjust the ign timing...not the valve adjustment.

what is the timing and how do you do it

 

To mechanicly advance the timing, its not really adjustable, in the sense, a car is. The flywheel key can be replaced with an advanced key, but then its fixed at that advanced rate, which isnt always desirable. It can make for higher operating temps, and hard starting.

I am trying to figure out what is wrong with 400ex and by the sound of it it cant be the timing

 

What are the symptoms? When does it do it? Cold but not hot? full throttle , or idle, or in between? Hard starting?

that is my post with the problems...only when hot and all threw the throttle range
