Rancher Intake

Default Rancher Intake
Anybody know what the purpose of the 2 resonators on the intake are for? Has anyone removed them and noticed increased noise or horsepower? While I'm at it, what is the sub-air cleaner for? It looks like a way for water and dirt to get into the carb.

Not sure which pieces youre referring to. What year and motor?
