Dynatek cdi burnt out
#1
ok we were out playing today on fourwheelers and we stop for a while. I then started my 650 up and it ran for a second and died. I then turned it over again and it started for one second then bam the whole electrical went dead and smoke started coming out from under my seat. i pulled out my cdi and it was fried. has anyone else had this happen to them? and how are dynatek for getting them replaced. the sad part about it was i had to get pulled back a couple miles by an 800 polaris and of corse them jackasses had to take pictures to.

nope bear every day i wake up and am not in any pain is a good day it was no big deal cause we were on our way back only about 10 miles from home and a couple miles from my friends place. lol like 3 out of the 7 people that were with work at polaris but it is all cool. they are good people.

Mine died last August while I was down at Hatfield McCoy. One morning, it was just sitting there idling and warming up while we were getting ready to ride and it stalled. No smoke like you described.. It blew the 10 amp ign. fuse. Replaced the fuse, turned the key.. fuse blew again. Luckily I brought the stock CDI along, so I switched them and put in another fuse and it started right up. I called Dynatek when we got back and told them what happened. Mailed it back to them, they replaced it no problem. But I always carry the stock CDI with me now, wrapped in plastic and stuffed under the seat. Kinda don't trust the Dynatek anymore..

thanx for the reply kwc i will call dynatek tomorrow and find out how to go about it. and yeah my 10 amp fuse blew as well and i dunno when it happened but the switch was tripped inside my belt housing so i had to take that off and flip the switch. dad was laughing at me cause i was cussing and swearing kawasaki's crappy designs the whole time i was taking the belt housing apart. and i am sorry to hear that bear some days i have to put up with alot of pain to specially in the spring and fall. i am only 24 but when i was about 20 i got my foot ran over by a forklift and broke it in 4 places now i have bad artheritis in it. can't wait to see how it will be in 20 years ugh. i guess i try to keep active and fit and well take care of myself and hopefully i will have a good long pain free life.
