Default New Kaw. Brute Force 650

Hello everyone, I just bought a new 05 Kaw. Brute Force 650 yesterday. From ready this forum I have come to the conclusion that everything on the 650 brute is the same as the 650 praire besides the body. So if I was thinking of doing any mods then I could look up the 650 priare mods correct? What are some mods that can be done with this motor? I ride alot in the Black Hills so there is alot of slow going up hills and over rocks and there is also alot of faster moving areas also. I have never worked on an ATV before but I have no problem taking the challange. If some could post some mods and what they do and the cost of them that would be good. The dealer said something about something called a LOWBOY, some module you wire in and get you more power and cost little over $100 or so. I know you uys have been talking about the CDI's stuff here. Let me know what you guys think. Also down the road maybe change out the front struts and tires also, what do you use?

What are elka springs? What has to come off before those go on and how did it effect the bike?

the elka's will increase your front spring rate improving the handaling in corners by not allowing as much body roll. I am not sure that would make much difference in the slower trail riding you were talking about doing. I am also not sure how that will effect the quad over rocky terrain. Most everything will fit unless its pertaining to the body or the racks. I would say a K and N filter is a nice mod for around 45-50 bucks you should get a noticable power gain. A pipe would give that twin a real cool sound and a little more power. A jet kit would possably be required to maximize your gains from those items. I have a dyna CDI on all 3 of my priarrie chassis v-twins. However there has been a bad batch or somthing going on at DYNA that here this past few months that has sponned some complaints. I have herd they have been really good about taking care of the problems.

The springs are a great up date, I have the progressive springs on mine and made a big differance. If you like a great web site on the Prairie 650 go to NYROC's site at http://atv.dnsalias.com/ it has alot of info on that bike. You have to join his web site but it is free. NYROC was the main reason why I bought mine three years ago and never regretted it a minute of it in the 3600+ miles I have on it now.

The name of the com. where the springs are made is "Progressive Suspension Inc." and I ordered them through a local bike shop. I really like them but I hear that the Elka's are a better. I like mine because they are fully adjustable. It took alot of the nose dive out when you round a corner fast and hard and now it sits a little higher also and that keeps the front end out of the rocks.
