left side hub nut how do I get the dang thing off?

i went for a ride today and heard my rear bearings crunching so now i have my tires off and my axle loose but i cant get the dang left side hub nut off, what size is the hub nut and is it standard lefty losey righty tighty? lol thanks fellas

man tryed the biggest socket i had and that was a 32mm --i finally had to get a 2 ft long cresent wrench to get that mother off with -- it was on there and yes lefty losey

i got that cresent at the cheep tool store for what i could have bought the socket--plus i can use it more than once

It's a 36mm socket you need. I used the impact wrench to get it off, torque wrench to put it on (173 ftlbs minimum according to the book), with a long pry bar carefully inbetween the wheel studs to keep it from spinning.

The guy I picked my DS up from had stripped the left side hub nut, and apprently used an impact gun to get it on. It took an impact gun several minutes to finally get it off...it would hardley turn. Luckily the threads weren't too messed up on the axle. It took 3 weeks to get a new nut from Bomb. I had to do some minor filing on the axle threads to get the new nut started, but eventually went on fine.
