Tranny on SP600
#1
Hey guys, I got a 2004 SP 600 I've noticed that when I start to drive forward in High gear at about 2000 RPM and in Reverse around 800-1100 RPM I can hear a klunking noise coming from my tranny. I had this problem when I first bought the fourwheeler but the klunk only happened when I was going downhill and my *** end hopped off a rut I was told that it was normal because of the automatic and EBS. However it's beginning to do it on flat surfaces and I'm concerned. Anyone have any suggestions?

I had the same complaint when I bought my 600sp.
I had the dealer trade my secondary clutch for the TEAM clutch from a 700 EFI. That took care of a good portion of the noise. It is still there a little but quite a bit better.I did a little investigating and found that there was quite a bit of freeplay in the trans. You are bound to get a little noise just due to the amount of freeplay between all the components involved with the drivetrain. I also installed a heelclicker clutch kit. The kit comes with a new secondary spring(silver)That also seemed to make the "clack" quieter(or I might be getting more deaf or just used to the noise). It also improved the EBS.
Hope this helps
