Need some assistance with alarm...
#1
Hi. New to the forum. I just picked up a 2005 Foreman the other day and also purchased an after market motorcycle alarm with starter kill, pager, etc. Figure I should try to disuade theives as much as possible (plus my insurance offers a discount). Anyway, I have installed numerous car alarms but never one on an ATV. I have a few questions hopefully someone can help me with. Where would the best location be for the alarms control module given that an ATV is pretty much "open". Also, what color/location is the ignition wire so that I can splice into it the ignition kill? Also, speaking of the kill wire/switch, would it be more feasible to splice the wire higher up in the column area or closer to the engine (once again thinking that an ATV is "open" and easily accesible)? Oh, it also has an option for flashing the headlights when activated. Where is the headlight wires/color (I can probably trace these down but looking for some info). Finally, where would a secure safe location be to mount the siren? Any help appreciated. Thanks again.
I assume the best thing to do would be to strip the ATV of the plastic shell and position things so that they are not readily accesible. How hard is it to pull all the plastic coverings? I assume it is fairly easy, just take some screws off? Thanks again!

Alrighty then.... Does anyone know how hard it is to take the top plastic cover off? I guess once I pull the piece that covers the tank I should be able to get a clear look at where to mount the module, siren, etc. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I can't help you with the wiring, done cars but never bikes. I would recommend that you stick the module nderneath the seat, wrapped in a ziplock baggy then wrap electrical tape all around it to keep moisture out. If you can fit the horn underneat the plastics in an inconspicous(sp?) spot that would probably be best.

Thanks for the suggestions. Didn't think about wrapping it in plastic. I'll check with the dealer to see if they have a book. I haven't picked it up yet from the dealer. Maybe when I do I'll ask them how to take the cover off and what color the ignition wire is.
