Possible Buyer, Opinions Wanted

New user here. I am looking at buying a brand new 2004 500 Automatic Arctic Cat ATV. It is coming with a 2 year warranty, $69 for a Warn 2500lb winch kit, and 5.95% financing for 36months. I have two or three guys I usually ride with, one with a Honda Recon 2wd and one with a Rancher 350 full time 4x4 with ITP Mud Lite 26" Big Foot Kit. I'm looking for something to beat the pants off these guys in the mud and I think I've found the right one. What do you all think? Oh yeah, I'm getting it for $5700 too.

New '04 leftover or new '05? 5700 a little steep for an 04 the dealer's had sitting around IMHO. My brother got an 04 leftover a few months ago for less than 5000. Keep looking or tell the dealer he's got to do better than that.

A guy with 12 posts, no equipment listed and he's giving advaice. I wouldn't listen to him. If the 500 Cat doesn't eat the rancher in any kind of race or terrain, then you need to park the cat because it's you not the machine. A Rancher has a 329cc motor against a 493cc motor, even if it is in a bigger heavier machine the physics quit working.

At that price I think you would be happier with the '05 for a little extra green.
I paid 6199 for my '05 500 4x4 auto last september.... and 69 for the winch (which is not installed yet).
the '05 has a number of changes and improvements over the '04
(a '05 400 AC 4x4 would probably also do quite well, and it would be a little cheaper - maybe around 5400)

Thanks for all the advice guys. The owner of the dealership did show me the invoice for that atv and i'm getting it at $100 dollars above cost and that $100 is for dealer fees. I've reviewed all options and I think this is probably the best for me. Thanks again. Look forward to talking with you guys about service and other things in the future.
