Default Soon to be a sport quad owner....some advise

Hi eveyone.... I live up in Canada and will be purchasing a sport quad within the next week. I have the option to get a 05 Z400 for $7950 + taxes. I also have the option to get a used 04 Honda TRX450R for $8000 (obo) I ride trails for the most part, we have a couple pits around as well. I know the 450R is "more" of a atv with "less" luxury features...just looking for opinions...

Thanks.

id just go with the 450r they are just so close in prices and you get so much more power with the 450...they are also great in trail and are a blast to ride my friend just got one and it is sick...even being a 2004 thats still brand new...

If prices are close, get the 450R AND a smaller front sprocket.

Otherwise, for trail riding, I'd go for the Z400. Great little quads!

I'd get the Z for the type of riding you described, it's brand new with a full warranty, electric start and reverse.

The Z is a great all-around bike. It does everything pretty well. The R is geared tall, so I pick it for the wide open desert, and fast more open trails. They need to make a 450X, with trail gearing.

To me great suspension is a "luxury feature", so by that definition the R is the luxury bike. I was once concerned about having a kick starter.....but no more!

The Z doesn't seem to have that much power, but that could just be me. Since the price's are so close i think i would go with the Honda

to me $8000 seems a little high for a used honda even if it is only a year old. I would get the Z. it may not have the power that the honda has but its new
and has electric start and reverse and has a warranty on it, and its great for trail riding

The Z400 is fairly strong, but not when compared to the 450's.Just my opinion.
