Anybody running a Pulse charger on there 450r
#1
Picked up a 450r recently and its time to start putting on the goodies. Looking for a pipe and I hear alot of hype about this new Pulse Charger exhaust. Is anybody out there running it & is it worth the cash? My bike is stock right now and will probably go with a big bore & cam in the future. I mostly just ride in the sand but will do a few mx races also. So I need basically a all around pipe, if there is such a thing. Thanks for any input.

I ran a search before I posted, just looking for some more input since the last thread was in January. Just hoping there are a few more out there to get other opinions. Thanks for the reply Maddog

Hey StillRacin,
Not to wade into something here after the fact...
But I dropped my Raptor off this morning at Van Wall Equipment in Perry, Ia. The guy there is Tony Tice, and evidently has been in the industry of bikes and fourwheelers for years. Anyway I had mentioned pipes such as the CT and Sparks and he told me I'd be best off to wait a month or so. Apparently he and another person in Michigan have designed and are coming out with a Pulse Charger which makes better power than the CT or Sparks systems...
I'm to pick my Raptor up in the morning and will ask him more about it, I see there are Pulse Charger silencers available now so this must be a newer version...I see Van Wall is a listed dealer on Pulse Charger's website (this is the site I found anyway). You may give Tony a call if you have more questions... http://www.stealthcharger.com/dealers.asp
Sorry to write a book...

Attempt to cover myself...
That could have been he meant that they were coming out with one for a Raptor possibly...*edit* now that I did 5 minutes of research that seems to be the case...
Anyway, saw the thread, thought I'd spark an option for you atleast. He'd know dyno numbers at least.

I put one on my sons 450R. It has been a disappointment so far. With a HRC cam, intake mods and 2" end cap we got off ebay his quad put out 43HP.
After we put the Pulse Charger on and dyno tuned it, the bottom end was softer and it only picked up a 1/2hp on the top end.
One thing to keep in mind though, KGB himself told me the Pulse Charger worked real good on his bike. His bike is heavily modified and may make better use of the large head pipe and flow?
I'm going to put a big bore kit (around 500cc) on my sons bike this summer and will reserve my final opinion to see how it comes around with a big bore and more cam. I was told by the Pulse Charger guys that they are working on some cams with profiles that compliment their pipe.
The Pulse Charger feels good when you ride it, looks cool and it has a great sound. Another strong point for the Pulse Charger is that the quiet insert doesn't kill the power production as much as quiet cores for other pipes.
I ordered one of the first production Pulse Charger 450R pipes and had some problems with the distributer on my order. The guys at Pulse Charger worked real hard to fix it even though they were trying to get ready for the Indy show. That is good customer service IMO.
