Default Yamoto rear brakes have gone south

We have a 2005 Yamoto 50 and have only had it about 2 month and the back brakes are gone. I can't tell if hits because the kids rode it threw water or what but there is diffently no more brakes. I also can't figure out how to get the brake drum apart to check the pads. Any help would be great on this matter and is there better brakes that can be bought for these bikes?

Check where the front of cable goes into the bottom of the foot brake lever. I have seen some of these screw up and that causes the brakes not to owrk. I am saying that is what is wrong but worth a shot.

Default Yamoto rear brakes have gone south

Welcome to the forum padgett114, I have read here that the brake shoes on yamotos will turn to mush if they get wet. It hasnt happened to ours but the wife avoids water at all costs. I was thinking of looking into seeing if brakes from a honda 50 would work. the chinese had to copy some one, just not sure who it was. I dont have a yamoto 50 but I went to raceway and looked at a 50 and it looks like if you pull the rear wheel at the axle and slide off the spacer the drum brake will slide off and you can get to the shoes.

Thanks everybody for your suggestion. First off these little bikes don't have a foot brake its all on the handlebars, but thanks anyway. We did get it figured out. The lever that hooks on to brake drum that is also hooked to the brake cable was slipping as it is made out of pretty soft metal. As for the question about the brake pads turning to mush, my kids ran this threw some pretty muddy puddles and when we got the brake drum off the brakes looked brand new. So I don't know what people are talking about, but this was a concern of mine also.
