Scrambler 500 vs predator
#4
What about for use at the dunes? Or just dirt road trail riding?
These are the two bikes I am looking at and Im not sure which to get. It seems to come down to
Manual vs automatic
2 wheel vs all wheel
people knowing you can ride vs people thinking your riding a "chick" bike just cause its automatic.
I dont want to go out to Glamis and have people laugh at me cause Im on an automatic like a few of my smart *** friends have joked about the scrambler.

A Scrambler is a great quad, if your friends are going to make fun of you.....then get the Predator and ROOST in there face!

Just because its an auto doesn't mean its a "chick" bike. No offense to any female riders, Im sure there are many of them that could put me to shame. The auto is just that much better I think for trail riding. You always have more than enough power when ever you need it, no need to down shift. its purely a preference thing.
If you get a scrammy and see some mud just take that trail and then wait for your friends to try and follow you, and then pull them out with your scrammy. They will be glad you got one.
If you are going to get a used scrambler, try to get a 400 and mod it, than when they make fun of you just put it in 4x4 and beat them in races all day long. They will say its not fair because you are using 4 wheel drive but hey you have to use what ya got.
If you jump, race, dune ride alot, then get a pred. If you go through mud, ride trails with lots of steep hills, than get a scrambler.
There is nothing wrong with riding an auto, I think you will start to see more and more larger quads going this way. With the right clutch kits they can be very effective! Just look at all the sleds

I was looking at the same rides for the same reasons as you except my main riding areas are mountain trails. I drove both of them back to back at the dealers asphalt lot. The Pred has way more ***** and is a real tire shredder on the pavement when you put the hammer down. It's also alot smoother ride. I opted for the Scrambler 'cause it's better suited to the trails I ride although I rarely need 4wd even in nasty mud only occasionally in snow. If I was mainly riding @ Glamis or sand dunes I would have bought the Predator for sure. Happy decisions

Last weekend we were riding in the pouring rain. My nephew has both Pred and Scrammy. The Pred sat back at camp. The mud was about a foot deep and the Pred would have just spun it wheels. Had it been dry (like the day before) he would have been out tearing it up with the Pred. Just depends on what you want to ride in.
