Default hole in the gear case

Has anyone ever tried to weld the tranny case when the chain knocks a hole in it. I know you can weld cast if you V it and use a nickel rod. Smells like crap when you weld but I know you can. Just wondered if anyone has tried it. I have a 1 inch triangle hole where the chain busted through and I found the piece in the tranny when I tore it down. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried it and if so how it worked out for them.

Default hole in the gear case

I am almost finished welding up my tranny case. I will post pictures tomorrow when it is complete. I am just happy I found the piece that busted out. It saved me about 200 dollars by welding my old case.

Finished welding it up and got it back together. I installed it in the bike. Now I just have to torque down the clutches and put all the crap back on. I have posted some pics of the weld job. Have to wait for them to be approved.
