Default To Those Affected By Recall

My 2005 SP 400 has never run right above 4000 feet. It coughs and sputter till it picks up speed then runs OK till the RPMs drop. It is involved in the recall.
I am curious if anyone who's atv is in the recall experienced something similar?

the recall has nothing to do with ur sputtering, if ur gonna go over 4000feet u got to rejet the carb man, the recall is on the electical controller, not related at all.

It was just a hunch.
I bought two, 2005 400's and one runs fine and one doesn't.

Just ones within a certain set of serial numbers are actually involved in the recall. My blue 500 recently had the ECM module go out in it and they replaced it. This was before the recall came out. What it was doing was that the fan would come on even with the key turned off. It came on in the middle of the night and ran the battery down. The HOT warning would come on even when it was turned off. weird. I assume they had a bad batch of modules. It would say it was hot when it actually wasn't, but the sensor was bypassint the ignition and turning the fan on. It seems to be fine now.

I took mine in for the recall and the carb problem. The mechanic told me that the reason my quad and my wifes quad ran differently was because at a certain build date, Polaris fattened up the jets to try to get them to run cooler. My main jet was a different size than my wifes. It will be a bit before I can go out to a higher elevation and try it out.

My friend's 2005 Scrambler burned down (just sitting in his garage) a few months ago. His VIN didn't fall within the recalled numbers, so everyone still be suspicious if your VIN wasn't listed. The fire was definately caused by something electrical and I think Polaris missed a few units on that recall. He's still working something out with Polaris. I'll keep everyone updated on what happens.
