What is the long term durability of the expedition 425? Has anyone experienced any problems with these units. Looking to trade up. I currently own a cat and the rocker shifter is great for winter riding, can the shifter on the expedition be easily manipulated with winter boots?

theres a few people on here that have them..me personally ive had mine for about 2 mos. and all i can say is i love it..i traded a magnum 325 4x4 in for it..i didnt care for the belt and i wanted more power which is why i went to the exp. but the exp. is i think one of the best things polaris has done..there s few people out here like rangerchet who has had his longer and can tell you more,im sure he will post along with a few other owners..i think you would be pleased with the quad, very smooth shifting, and you cant beat the all wheel drive..both machines have never left me out in the woods, never broken down,so reliability i think is just as good as any other quad out there. on the shifting question,i dont have any problem getting my riding boot under the shifter at all, shifts fine for me..i also think you can get an aftermarket rocker shifter if thats something you like on the a/c..hope i helped..as i said there are other exp owners out here who have had them longer that will reply.

I have had my Xpedition for six months now and have had no major problems with it. The only problems that I have had with the bike have all been driver related. The bikes are durable and very tough.

Still trying to find someone that has put a Cycle Country electric shift on a Xpedition and how it works out. Anyone?

Ive had mine for about 14 months and its tough as nails. I have changed the tie rod ends, lower steering bushing, and brake pads(twice). I think for 01 all these parts have been upgraded. Im not complaining though, Ive put it through hell!
Oh, I also had to replace one of the rear hubs, no big deal $20 part.

Hi, I just got back from grouse hunting about an hour ago. Mom had supper ready and then i cleaned my 4 grouse i shot. I live in the twin cities but keep my 2000 polaris xpedition 425 cc 5-speed up at moms way up north. then i come up alot and use it. Besides the hunting I took a 25 mile circle to for fun.

the xpedition is rated as a very tough atv. I think it is. I am on my 18th. month now with mine and have about 1,050 miles on it. Mine was the early model. I want to say that I am rough on my atv and I do have 26 inch mud bugs tires on it. among some other stuff.

My radiator/fan sensor went out. replaced on waranty. Some wires in the front some where were tore up. replaced on warranty. outer tie-rod ends, I paid for. Rear u-joint, I paid for. Had a problem with the rear axle which was found to be a missing spacer between the bearings. Polaris paid for even after my warranty because it happened at the factory. I had an over heat problem. I found that I was not keeping my radiator clean enough. Now I go to a car wash and use the high pressure water gun instead of my dads hose at home. No more problems with that. Had a radiator leak. I punchered a hose do to where I drive. Real cheap fix. The reverse actuator called the black box was a factory un-registered recall. Polaris paid for it after the warranty expired. thats about it. I drive it hard and drive though some tuff woods some times where their is no road even. Alot of very brushy areas. It is a tough atv and I think all the factory problems have been weeded out now. I love the machine. the only thing that will make me sell it is if polaris makes an xpedition 625 cc 8 speed. Hint Hint if your listening polaris!!! It was a great day in the woods to. Also the polaris does not run out of power in the mud and can pull alot to. If you have heard of lurch'es web site that he advertises on the polaris forum alot. You can see a pic. of it there. Its chets xpedition.

Well thats about it. It's a very good atv and of course it does have polaris's famous all-wheel-drive system. rangerchet

Couldn't the shifter be rotated one spline to make more room for a heavy boot? That is what we did with out Honda.
