Detroit Gearless is a locker. If your looking for an unlocker go with the Warn 424 select.

The Warn 424 and High Lifter Unlocker replace the front driveshaft to make your ATV selectable 2x4 or 4x4 (which is technically 3x4 w/out the differential locker). Most people on here get the Warn 424. I put mine in last weekend and it completely changed the handling on my wolvie.

The Detriot Locker goes inside your differential to make your ATV a true 4x4. I haven't been able to find out much information about it online; including these forums. All I know is I get in situations almost every time I go mudding where one front wheel will lock up and the other is just left spinning. Currently I have to rely on weight transfer to get out of things, but I've had to get pulled out of the mud more times than I'd like. I know the locker would help, but so would some tall mud tires.

Check out http://www.woodwarrior.com and see how people are modding their wolverines. The majority of guys put tires on their wolvie to get better performance in the mud. For me too, tires ranks higher on my list of to-buy mods than the locker. And if you think about it, the cost of tires is cheaper than the locker and tires are easier to install. Maybe what's happening is the tires helps out so much in the mud that the locker isn't as much of a factor anymore? Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the answer to that question!!

1) detroit gearless locker is a locker. It allows both wheels to be engauged when the bars are strait but lets the outside wheel freewheel in a turn. (the closest you will get to a fully locked front differential but wont hop and bind when you try to turn on pavement or other hard surfaces)

2) Highlifter unlocker and warn 424 select do the same thing. the reason the warn is more popular is because from the day the highlifter came out there have been many owners of them who say they need constant ajustment on their cables and once they are installed they need continued ajustment. I have a warn424 on my wolverine and I havent ajusted it since the day I finished installing it. Just pull it out for 2x4, hit the button and let it in for 4x4. simple as can be. Im not sure but I think there were other maitnence issues with the highlifter as well.

I would like to clear something up. There is a Detriot Gearless Unlocker and Locker and if you want to get a locker to have true 4x4 you can get a detriot gearless unlocker/locker package. I am kind of thinking about that myself right now

I have the High lifter Detroit Gearless Locker and unlocker, The 2wd makes the atv a total different machine and the locker makes you get threw alot of stuff you wont think the atv can go through.
