I Have and 01 Raptor and 2nd gear is out... I went to raptor tranny.com and read how to replace it and I think I could do it myself....has anyone done this themselves? how hard is it? the main thing Im worried about is getting both sides of the cases back together withgout messing anything up. Where is the cheapest place to buy the 02 upgrade? I really do not have the money to fix this thing but i need to do it, and i need to do it fast so i can ride...any help will be greatly appreciated

one of my buddies just had 1st and 2nd gear put in his warrior and the yamaha dealer only charged 250 dollars for labor and parts.i would check with the dealer first

my buddies and I just tore the motor out of the quad and got it all torn apart except for the cases.......we decided we didin't want to mess with it so I took it to a local bike mechanic and he is getting back with me after he splits the cases and finds the problem to give me a price quote....should i just have him fix the problem to save money? or should i go one step up and put 02 gears in? i really don't have the money for 02 gears but it would probably save me money in the long run to do it nbow huh?

 

i would definitely do the 02 gears.....if not it might happen again and you will be out the money you paid to repair it now by just replacing the gear!
