Scrambler 50 question
#1
My son's machine doesn't go very fast anymore, he can get off and walk faster than it will go even at full throttle. Do I need a new belt?? Is that something that I can do or are there special tools required?
Thanks!

The engine seems to run fine, races up just fine, kind of like an auto trans on a car that is slipping real bad. Rpm runs up fine but it doesn't meve very fast, seems worse after it's been ridden a while. My local Polaris dealer said they havent seen many problems with the belts on these units so I'm not sure wwhere to go now??

Sounds like the centrifugal clutch is bad. It the engine is hitting wide open throttle and the belt is going around then I would look at the clutch first. The best thing to do is sell this toy and buy your kid a real machine. Good learner quad but after they learn the basics step up to something bigger.
I tore me sons 90 Scrambler apart 15 different times fixing it. I can tell you they are toys designed for pasture riding not atvs designed for the trails that we go on. I just went down to Abernathy's and bought him a Yamaha Grizzly 125 and WOW what a difference.
