04.5 700 EFI died on the trails!!!
#1
Hey guys... I was out riding a few new trails that my buddy found and my 700 died. At first I thought I might have hit the kill switch by accident (wishfull thinking)... I restarted it without a problm and drove about a hundred feet while it sputtered a bit then died again. The fuel guage read full (but it was not even half full, but it did have about a gallon or so in there. After it died the third time and only having moved 150 ft. I realized that when I turned the key to restart, the fuel pump did not activate that first spray I am used to hearing before my atv starts. The bike will start but only enough to get into the trailer 5 ft away. We had ridden about 5 miles of easy trails with a bit of rocky terrain. The bike is still under warranty, I hope my dealer will cover this...what do you guys think?
thanks in advance Franco

Sounds like a common problem.....but.... I went to take it to the shop this morning and the fuel pump now works??? Is it working because it is cool and once on the trails and the heat build up causes it to shut down??? The dealer can't get to it until Friday so I will take it back to the trails today and see what happens...I will stay close to the trailer though!!! On a different note, I got to ride and 05 Sportsman 400 yesterday and I must say I was very impressed. I weigh a slim 295lbs and the ride was comfortable....a bit more so than my 700 (but I have 27" mudlites on it also...not a great ride) I went up a pretty steep, rocky, rain washed hill with a couple of big rocks I needed to get over and although I had to back up once cause I got hung up, once I hit them right on the bike pulled right through it. I must say I am very impressed.
thanks again guys for our input. Franco
