Default Rubicon Owners - Need help please

I was reading the other day about the oil filter on a Rubicon. Someone explained how it should be installed. They said the spring and washer was on the engine side of the oil filter and then the filter was installed and last was the cover. I have since read that the spring is after the filter on the cover side. Could someone in the know please set me straight and also what problems could occur if it was installed wrong.

Thanks

blow up the engine, oil won't channel back to the engine since the output of the oil filter is put up against metal instead of out to the cooler line

Your owners manual tells you the proper procedure.

Not trying to sound like a smartass, but if you don't have the manual, just pay close attention to how the old one comes out. That's what we just did yesterday.

I have checked the book and what I have done is correct. The spring is on the cover side of the filter!

Thanks

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that doesn't like to read directions.
