'86 Trailboss 250. Basic questions, I DID SEARCH!
#1
Alright I found one around me for cheap. Its in pretty rough shape, wont start. Turns over freely and has good spark. I want some questions answered that I dont know where to find, lol.
Here we goo..
1.Did this model have reverse? Fully automatic transmission I am pretty sure correct?
2. Do you mix the gas with this or is there a oil injecter? What ratio should I use? 25:1? 30? 40? 50?
3. WIll old trailblazer parts fit on this aswell?
4. This model is pullstart only from what I understand? No electric?
I think thats it for now. Any help would be nice. Even if I didnt ask it. Like..if there is anything I should look out for, etc.

I had a 1987 or 88.....can't remember which.......Trailboss.
Tranny is fully auto CVT just like they use today. Shifter is down by your right calf as you sit on the bike. Three position forward-neutral-reverse.
Mine was oil injected 2 stroke 250 (244cc) with the oil tank cap on the front nose piece.
Mine was electric start with push button on the left handlebar controls.
It was basically the very same machine as the current Trailblazer except for the shifter.

if you have a tank up front ( I also have an 88) then it has the oil injector on it.. You will want to make sure that the oil pump is working.....
How this was suggested to me.. (haven't done it yet) Mix 40:1 oil put it in the tank get the thing going.. unhook the hose that goes from the oil pump to the head, and then manually push the little pump thing to the max (it would normally increase with throttle) and see if oil comes out.. but then you got to figure out if your getting enough oil?? haven't figure that one out yet............
I love my 250, infact I just had new bearings put in the thing (last year I did the head) I also stripped the frame down and painted it and fixed some other things on it.. so now it looks nice. have only started 1x because i'm waiting for a carb rebuild kit.. then we will be allllll done....
If she wont' start and has good spark.. new gas, and then i'd dive into the carb. and clean that sucker really good!!

I'll try to get some unfinished pics of mine this week... It doesn't look much different.. other hten the frame is a diff. color. I was going to replace the plastics until I priced them.... and decided the old ones don't look to bad after all..
I'm fairly sure you can just remove the pump and run straight 40:1 mix in the thing. I think??? they make a plate that goes over where the pump sits, made special to remove the pump so you can run straight mix in it. but not 100% you'll need to look into that. I wouldn't want to leave that spot where the pump sits open.
and if you figure out.. let me know to.
