We went for a ride yesterday and everyone riding behind the 400 said somethings wrong the machine is blowing blue smoke like crazy when we checked the oil it was down about a litre topped it back up but it just blows it back out and does not want to go much past idle is there a relief valve or hose that could be plugged causing this . My buddy says it may have a cracked ring, but it starts and idles so smooth I don't know I'd like to look at simple things first before taking the motor apart there is only 1500km on this machine

 

did you flip it or something? because mine did that too when i flipped it, it takes a while for the motor to get rid of all the oil residue, how much oil is coming out??? if its alot then you must have some clearance probs in the cylinder walls. check gaskets.

 

i'm bringing in mine on monday so i'll let you know. its leaking oil from the back of the engine.

 

said to hell with it & pulled the head & barrel off . the head is heavy with carbon build up as well as top of piston , the rings have almost 1/8" end gap I'm sure thats too much & the piston has gotten very hot at sometime , the skirt is very black from blowby I'd guess . Have not checked piston clearance but seems like it's around 8 or 10 thousands maybe more . My uncle kept telling to change the oil more often cause "oils cheap boy , motors ain't " so I'm off to buy some parts in the morning
