Do you have to go to a railroad crossing to pick it up?. Whenever something sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

I don't know what's happening there where you live but I might be able to tell you something about it. Do you know the owner? I mean if you know each other, that might reduce the chance of him tryin to screw you over. I'll tell you what happened to my dad. He went to buy a '94 Polaris Sport 400. Well the guy who was tellin us about it and showed it to us, he used to be the owner. He sold it to his boss, who is the owner at this point. When we went up there it was smoking like a freight train. He had taken the oil injector off and tried to put a new one on. He said the reason it was still smoking was it still had premix in the system. So we let it drain out, and it still smoked a little but nowhere near as much. It smoked so bad before, when he revved it up, you couldn't see the cars going by us on the blvd. next to us. I'm not talkin bout the cars itself I'm talkin about the car or their headlights; it was nighttime. But the smoke pretty much went away. My dad never rode a 2-stroke before but we knew that they were to smoke a little bit so we went ahead and bought it for $1500. We took to a local motorcycle shop to have it checked and everything was wrong with it. The counterbalncer was broke into 3 pieces. The head gasket was blown. I think the cylinder was cracked and the machanic said it looked like it had been liike that for a long time. We hadn't rode it for ten min. since we bought it. We put it in the shop in Dec. of '99 and got it back late July of this year. He had to take it apart 3 or 4 times because everytime they put it back together and ran it, they found something else wrong. So in my opinion, take it to a shop before you spend money on it. Unless you like spending money in the rebuilding process. Let me put it another way, my dad bought it for $1500, but when he was done, he had spent between $2500 and $3000 on it. For that amount I could have bought a decent little 250R for that much.
