Cleaning the Carb on a 1999 Kodiak 400
#1
I have a 99 Kodiak 400 that runs like crap. A friend of mine cleaned the carb and it fixed the problem. After about 2 weeks it started running bad again. It back fires, spit and sputters in the mid range. I talked to 1 of the guys at the local shop and they said the carb needed to be cleaned again and the tank most likely had trash in it. I pulled the tank and cleaned it now I need to do the carb. Only problem is I don't know how to. Can anyone help?

Try to stay clean and organized, and put things back the way you found them. Take digital pics if you need to.
Install an inline fuel filter while youre at it, and it wont plug up again.
You can try just removing the float bowl, and the jets will be right there, inside. Some have hex heads some have slotted. unscrew and Remove the jets, and make sure they are clean...if you have to, run a small wire thru them, to dislodge any crap that has built up.
heres a couple of articles that go into more detail.

Most likely, from your discription...the main jet is plugged.
